Pinch pots start from a ball of clay pinched and manipulated by hand. A surprising variety of pots can be made using the pinch pot technique, and it gives a good introduction to the feel and behaviour of clay. It lends itself well to smaller sculptural works that can be modelled, carved and textured with quick results. Pinching has a calming effect bringing the maker into the moment.

Welcome to our ceramic workshop where you’ll discover the timeless art of pinching techniques. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn to mold and shape clay using your fingers, creating unique vessels that reflect your individual style. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, join us to explore the tactile nature of ceramics, guided by skilled instructor who will help you master the fundamentals of pinching. For the workshops only:
You do not need any previous experience to attend this class.Â
Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty, remove jewellery and wear sensible footwear for throwing classes.
We have aprons available for use during your session if required.
If you have mobility issues please contact us beforehand.
All necessary tools and materials will be provided and included in the price.
Include: materials (clay, slips), use of studio equipment & pottery tools, ceramic glazes & firing of work (but fair usage does apply).

Please arrive on time, the teacher will start the demo as scheduled.
We reserve the right not to fire items that pose a risk to equipment.
We will not glaze fire items that have been brought in from home.
If you like to cancel for any reason, we ask for 14 days or more advance notice so we can have enough time to relocate spaces for a full refund, subject to the following conditions:
- 3 days to 13 days in advance for a 50% refund.
- For any cancellation under 3 days, no refund.
